Denmark's national bird is the swan.

A monk with a barrel.

Georg Jensen

CPH has the best people watching.

so many attractive and stylin' ones.

So! I've finally got a rough gameplan for my 3 weeks that I get off of school in October.

Week One: Stockholm and Helsinki with the architecture and design program.
Week Two: Prague and Barcelona
Week Three: London (hopefully) and Zurich

In Zurich I am going to stay with my good friend from Germany that I met when I first moved to the Woodlands. I visited her when I was 17 in her hometown and now I have tracked her down for a glorious reunion! This plan has taken me a lot of shuffling to coordinate. Its a wonderful but also intimidating task to look at a map of Europe and think 'now, where should I go?' when I wanna go EVERYWHERE. I feel almost greedy about it actually.  greedy and impatient. esh.

Ribe

Oldest town in Denmark.

They had to cut the door to make it fit in the frame.

Loverly.

I was so blind after trying to photograph this.

1119!

Dig site.

Somethings never change-initials carved into old monastery school chairs-1632

Our monk guide on the move.

Gateway to hell.

Its a tradition to hang a ship in Danish churches.

The costumes seriously upgraded when we found the chainmail.
So heavy.

in the clouds.

Sometimes i wonder why i'm studying architecture at all.

BUT then, there are days like today, where i get so caught up in creating something that i when i finally pause to breathe, i realize that i feel like a million bucks - all giddy and excited - inspired is the word. and boy do i love that feeling.

hmm.

people do this a lot here: leave their babies outside while they go inside somewhere. sometimes its just to grab something from the bakery, but other times its for a meal, in which case they keep a watchful eye from the other side of the window. it's not uncommon to see a whole gang of strollers bunched together outside certain restaurants.
apparently a danish celebrity got in trouble for leaving her baby outside a restaurant in new york while she was visiting.
copenhagen is relatively safe. except for all these gang shootings that have been occurring in the last two weeks...

but two!

Went to Bornholm this weekend - it's a small island owned by Denmark in the Eastern Baltic.
We took an overnight ferry to get there.

What is this icon trying to say exactly?

Day One:

Just outside the steps to our hostel- we just there just in time for the sunrise.

Onward! Bike time! Viking ruins!

Shaweet radio tower.
It was locked, and probably full of aliens.

We could see Sweden.

Bornholm has this really fine sand on the Southern tip of the island. It's used for hourglasses.

The Baltic is so cold.

My group was so much fun.
We didn't really convert the kilometers to miles to understand how far we were intending to bike ride when we set out in the morning - we ended up riding 43 miles on Saturday.

Found a daisy field - had to frolick and romp.

We named this part the enchanted forest.

Day Two:

At the 'heavenly cliffs'

Road to the Northern tip to see these old castle ruins.

Biked a mere 27 miles this day. Ha.

The hills are alive.

Splendid!
